This sedge grows to 3 meter (10ft) tall and forms huge colonies in swamps and coastal marshes. The leaves are coarse, gray-green and saw-toothed on both edges and along the mid rib. If you walk through a stand of this ‘grass’ the saw-toothed leaf blades can leave long shallow cuts on unprotected arms and legs.
