Roserush is almost a Florida endemic, found only in Florida and parts of Georgia. It grows in dryer upland habitats, often in disturbed areas.

A member of the Aster family, roserush produces single lavender-pink flowers in summer. The white fluffy seeds blow in the wind and drift a considerable distance from the parent plant.
