Redwings are commonly seen in Florida in the winter, they sometimes form large flocks that descend on agricultural fields or marshes in search of seeds and grains. Males are shiny black with crimson shoulder patches; females are brown and sparrow-like, with heavy streaking on breast. Males in particular often congregate at birdfeeders and are attracted to small seed like millet.
